San Diego Airport Planning and the Quieter Home Program

Invocation and Introductions by David Brummersted 

Keith Wilschetz (pronounced “Wil-sheets”), Director of Planning & Noise Mitigation, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, has been planning airports for 28 years, and has been the San Diego Airport Authority’s Director of Planning for eight years.  He has directed such efforts as the Site Selection study, which identified a site for a new commercial airport in San Diego; Destination Lindbergh, which formulated the long-term plan for the current airport site; and the Airport Development Plan, which is the current master planning effort for Lindbergh Field.  He is also responsible for noise mitigation and sound insulation of homes around the Airport, engineering and management of many construction projects on the north side of the airport, and land use compatibility for all 16 airports in the County, including four military bases. 

Prior to joining the Authority, he was Vice President of Planning at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and a consultant with Landrum & Brown, Inc., a worldwide airport planning consulting firm.  

Mr. Wilschetz is an Aerospace Engineer from the Missouri University of Science and Technology and holds a Master’s degree in Executive Leadership from the University of San Diego.  He is also a licensed private pilot.

Also joining us will be Peggy Cooper, Community Relations Specialist for the Airport Authority who acts as a staff liaison for communities surrounding the airport
